An ideal short break destination for horse
riders, mountain bikers and walkers. Take a journey through the South Pennines – you will encounter open moorland and hidden reservoirs, ancient packhorse tracks sweeping into valleys with gritstone walls, mill chimneys and canals offering a glimpse of past histories.
Pennine Bridleway
Designed specifically for equestrians and mountain bikers the Pennine Bridleway runs for 205 miles (330 Km) through the dramatic Pennine hills from Derbyshire to Cumbria. Following old lanes, pack horse routes and drover’s roads it provides a real sense of stepping back in time. It is the perfect way to explore the varied landscapes and industrial archaeology of the Pennines.
Bronte Way
The Bronte Way is a 69km (43 mile) long distance footpath which starts at Oakwell Hall ("Fieldhead" in Charlotte Bronte's novel "Shirley") near Birstall in Kirklees near Bradford, and ends at Gawthorpe Hall in Padiham near Burnley in Lancashire's Pendle Witch Country.

We have allocated areas and tables for you and your dog to enjoy. They can be booked on line by selecting the dog option so they can join you for brunch, lunch , dinner or drinks, . We offer a dog brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings so they can enjoy the pub with you after a morning walk, We also offer a takeaway service for your favourite coffee, tea or hot chocolate to take with you. We have suggested some walks and routes for you if you haven't visited the area before too.
A couple of rules so everyone has a great time at the pub…..
- We do ask that all dogs are kept on a short lead while on the premises.

We suggest that relaxing at home is the best place for nervous, anti-social or vocal dogs as they won't have a nice time in a busy environment.
